On Her Majesty’s Service

Fulwell 73 / BBC1

Barlow rounded off the film by showing off the results to the Queen, who politely nodded at his holiday snaps (“Ere’s me with the Slum Drummers!”) and pronounced the song “splendid”. Phew! Telegraph

On Her Majesty’s Service follows Gary Barlow as he embarks on a mission to record a special song to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Prince Charles gives Gary some suggestions before he begins an extraordinary global trip, recording a vast number of musicians on their home turf to make the unique record “Sing”. The film culminates in a visit to Buckingham palace and a meeting with the Queen to hear the song. Shot entirely on the then newly released Canon C300.
